QV INDIA USED ABROAD IN BUSHIRE 1870's with K-5 CANCEL
YEAR - 1873
In 1873 the Indian Post Office decreed that henceforth there was no necessity to note the year in the circular date stamps. This ruling applied throughout the
Indian Postal System and then years elapsed before its reinstatement. Hence, for the following decade, covers can only be dated by alternative MS notations or foreign post office mark.

The allotment of a duplex canceller K-5 indicates that Bushire was the disbursing office No. 5 in the circle under Karachi, with in the Scind Circle.
K5 in Square of 5 bars in duplex with 24 mm scds BUSHIRE Type P6 or 25mm scds BASHIR Type P8 center name sans serif, over M : D without Y date.
( Both may be found without K5 in bars )

Although the office date of retransfer of Gulf ports from the Scind Circle to the Bombay Circle was 1879, the K5 canceller continued to be used at Bushire until December 1880.

In 1923 the year slug was omitted. This canceller was used only in 1923 ( on India King George V adhesives ) until the Bushire post office, in common with the other post offices in Persia, closed on 31 March 1923 .
